Brian Kuo

I am a Canadian-Taiwanese cellist based in NYC and studying under Eliot Bailen. In addition to being a cellist, I also enjoy composing and playing the piano. Outside of music, I am a fourth-year physics student in Columbia College, and currently do research with the Columbia Heavy-ion nuclear physics group. In my free time, you can find me cooking, baking, doing yoga, or riding my bike and motorcycle. At Columbia, I am a cellist in the Columbia University Orchestra, and I regularly organize recitals with friends. In 2016, I was awarded first prize with distinction in the Taiwan National Music Competition, and in 2017, I received the Diploma of the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) in cello performance. As a soloist and chamber musician, I have been invited to perform at world-renowned stages across Taiwan and the United States.

William Tang

William Tang is a junior majoring in financial economics and music. He is a member of the Columbia Music Performance Program and Columbia Classical Performers. He was a two-time recipient of Chopin Foundation of the United States Scholarship Award. He was also a top prize winner of Kosciuszko Foundation Chopin Competition for Young Pianists, The Chappaqua Orchestra Concerto Competition, Sound Symphony Concerto Competition, Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition and New York Steinway Piano Competition. He participated in the Young Ensembles Program and the Young Musicians Program of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He also attended the Gijon International Piano Festival, International Academy of Music in Italy, Frost Chopin Academy, and International Keyboard Institute and Festival. William is currently under the tutelage of Miyoko Lotto.

Luca Sakon

Luca Sakon is a junior at Barnard studying educational policy, and is in the cross-exchange program with Manhattan School of Music. She began her violin studies at the age of 5 at the Special Music School. For her high school years, she was a student of Bela Horvath at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College where she served as assistant concertmaster of the Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras. Luca has performed in masterclasses for Masao Kawasaki, Grigory Kalinovsky, Roger Tapping, Charles Neidich, Victor Pikaizen, Daniel Phillips, Eric Wyrick, and Aaron Rosand. At her middle/high school, she founded a chamber ensemble that was selected to perform at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Young Musicians Concert. She has also attended numerous summer festivals including Summit Music Festival, Heifetz Institute, and Decoda Skidmore Chamber Music Institute. Luca currently studies with Peter Winograd, and is a member of the Columbia University Orchestra and the Columbia Music Performance Program.
