TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 2:10-4:00 p.m. Michel Murat Lecture in French Location: Maison Francaise, second floor Buell Hall Michel Murat is Professor of Literature at the Paris IV-Sorbonne University and Director of the Department of Literature at the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris. His work focuses on the history of literary forms. His recent books include L'Art de Rimbaud (Corti, 2002), Le "Coup de Dés" de Mallarmé. Un recommencement de la poésie (Belin, 2005), and Le Vers libre (Champion, 2008). Michel Murat has also written extensively on surrealism, and on Robert Desnos and Julien Gracq in particular. He co-directed the Cahier de l’Herne André Breton (L’Herne, 1998). His talk is associated with the publication of a book entitled Le Surréalisme forthcoming in Fall 2012 (Le Livre de Poche). Michel Murat’s talk is being presented as part of Vincent Debaene’s graduate seminar on “Surrealism.” We are pleased to open his talk to any Columbia University affiliated graduate students and faculty members who would like to attend.
